Vote of confidence in the minister of finance and oil, Abd al-Rahman al-Atiqi, on 4 June 1974. Issues of the interpellation concerned the relationship between Kuwait and international oil companies, the high level of oil exports from Kuwait (the opposition wanted Kuwait to export less to raise prices) and the number of Kuwaiti workers in the oil company.
The vote: 19 to withdraw confidence; 1 to retain confidence in the minister; 13 abstentions; many absences. Two who demanded a vote of confidence did not turn up for the vote.
The number of votes to withdraw confidence was higher than expected, and included a number of deputies from outlying areas.
