Vote on advancing the second reading of the vote on amending the first article of the law on Constitutional Court. Those in favor wanted to advance the second reading so as to pass the law on the 6th of May. The law would have prevented the Constitutional Court from interpreting the text of the constitution: this was a demand of the opposition because the government, in this period, referred a number of issues to the Constitutional Court in order to limit the power of the parliament.
The vote was 31 for, 3 against, and 3 abstentions. Al-Qabas lists only 30 deputies who voted for the motion, not 31: one of the deputies listed as "غير موجود" probably voted for the law. Four ministers were present and abstained or voted against the proposed law: Al-Usaymi, al-Houti, al-Rashid & al-Mazidi
On the 13th the parliament voted to pass the law in its second reading by a vote of 36 for, 9 against, and one abstention. Al-Qabas did not report the roll call.
